OK, I played hooky this weekend. The weather was great and I needed to cover the 8th Annual Okeechobee Rotary Club Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail Ride-Run-Walk charity event for my bike blog. Plus Mother is in town, it was my birthday and Bro Mark is shoveling snow in St. Louis.
Gators and birds
Here’s what it looked like down here Saturday morning. Click on the photo to make it larger. The things that look like horizontal black specks are alligators.
This is the same place where an 18-year-old swimmer got an arm ripped off. At 2 a.m.. Alcohol, as you might suspect, was involved.
Happy Birthday, Ken! It’s 36 degrees here in Tillman, MO, so your Lake Okeechobee photo is much appreciated! We were there a couple of months ago, and we obviously came back too soon!
We took an airboat ride on Lake Trafford near Omakolee, FL, and I got all the alligator photos my Midwestern heart desired! I even got to EAT some alligator at a quaint crab shack in the middle of the Everglades! Thanks for a warm breeze on a frigid Missouri winter day!
Happy belated birthday, Ken. Hope it was a good one for you. I know you were thrilled to have your mom there with you. Tell her hello for us.
Belated Happy Birthday. May you be blessed with many more!
Happy Bday Ken! It is in the 20-40 degree area here in Boston and some snow still on the ground. Enjoy your “sissy Weather” because in a couple of months, it will be payback time…think 95/95! Happy Bday!
Ken, Jim and I are wondering if you saw any Wood Storks around the lake. We just heard this week that there were no nests at all at Corkscrew Swamp due to too high wter levels in November.
Sounds like you had a great birthday. Blessings and many more…
